Here i am in my hometown of Thessaloniki, under the Arch of Galerius, a major meeting place for citizens and students. Between the gate and the sea there is a long pedestrian walkway with interesting shops and cafes among Roman ruins. This walkway ends at the famous White Tower, looking over the city's busy port. Galerius was a Roman Emperor born in Serdica (now Sophia), Bulgaria, although Thessaloniki was to be his administrative center. He is mainly remembered for having expanded the Roman Empire to the Tigres' river and for his persecution of Christians.
